When buying gemstones, it is necessary that you first seek to understand the task. You can easily obtain such products available on the market when you have a lot of money. Yet, if your assets are limited and you are seeking for the best offers, then, you need to familiarize yourself with several guidelines of what sort of purchase can be done, are worthwhile and realistic. Here are some tips.

  1. First of all, observe and look at the gemstone of your choice at all possible and viewable sides. You need to get a thorough ocular assessment of the product to see any problems such as uneven color distribution, presence of color zones, cutting problems and obvious inclusions. Problems discovered can reduce the value of the gemstone. If you need to buy a product at significant discount, be observant enough and check for any kind of sign of defects.
  2. Next, be interested yet do not let your excitement show. You are advised to maintain your composure regardless how breath taking a gemstone. This tactic would most likely help you keep a sound and reasonable judgment over the precious jewelry.
  3. Thirdly, do not be intimidated by the general look and presence of the agent. When the gender, nationality and age of the broker distracts you, chances are higher that you would only nod to what the agent has to say and ignore to affirm your part or your own judgment. If that takes place, you'll lose your ability to secure a good deal.
  4. Lastly, be patient to present your own offer for the gemstone towards the end or near the final result of the discussion. You ought to appear and sound firm on your stand so that the trader would assume your standing offer is the ultimate concession you could possibly offer.

When you purchase the gemstone, try to maintain it as a priced possession. You must be sure to regularly update yourself regarding the value of your possession so that at any time, as the need may arise, you could invariably have the option to dispose it. Gemstones are stunning. They'll never fail to mesmerize the eyes of the beholder, so keep it safe the way you protect your life.

Love collecting items? Why not include minerals and gems in your collection? They are no longer hard to find these days. Simply log online and you will already find lots of minerals and gems for sale. Now, what names to look for? If you're new on this, you must be familiarized with the top 3 stones to include in your minerals and gems collection. Read on this article to help you get started.

One name to remember is the painite. For years, it became the rarest gem mineral according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Found in the 1950's in Burma, this stone was considered to be among the rarest minerals worldwide. Named after its British discoverer, Arthur Charles Davy Pain, the painite is pink to red brown in color and exhibits different colors in different angles or better referred to as pleocroic.

Serendibite. Found in Sri Lanka, this cyan colored stone should not be confused with serandite. It is created via an unusually complex formula which consists of calcium, magnesium, aluminum, silicon, boron, and oxygen. If painite is pink to red brown in color, the serendibite on the other hand shows blue, blue-green, grey-blue, light yellow, and a deep dark blue and can be transparent to translucent. And for your information, the smallest of this stone type sells for about $14,300 per carat.

Poudretteite. First discovered in Mont St. Hillaire in Quebec, Canada, this lapidary gemstone is said to be the softest stone among these three. Its primary color-causing element is manganese and its resulting crystals can be pink, purple, and clear in color. Originally, there were only seven crystals unearthed for Poudretteite, but lately more gem-quality pieces had been discovered in Mogok.

An Intro To Lapidary and Gemstones

September 2nd, 2009 Wendy Racklave Posted in Gemstones, Lapidary Rough 1 Comment »

We have lapidary equipment for sale at great prices.

Most of the time you will find people that collect stamps, some collect coins and other collect collectors beer cans and soda cans with pictures of their favorite sports start printed on them. These are normal things to collect, as they are not too expensive, but then you will find people collecting things like diamond, gold coins, lapidary and gemstones, which gets a bit expensive, just like collecting painting and other more expensive things.

However, when you are in love with anything that s pretty and shiny it is hard to stay away from it. It is like someone who loves to shop. This type of person will spend hours in a store trying on things just to see how items will look on him or her. This type of person will also use shopping as a sort of therapy.

So, when this person is feeling down in the dumps he or she will go out to the nearest mall and spend a ton of money on things that he or she does not need - most of the time, for females and some males, it is shoes. Some people collect tie in the this manner too, and other even collect dresses, most of which will not ever be used.

With collecting comes the problem of where to put it. There are plenty of special collector's boxes or display cabinets for items, and when it comes to lapidary/gemstones you will have to use certain display boxes for the cut gemstones. You can also collect them in jewelry form and display them on a jewelry stand.

When you collect gemstones you have to know a lot about them. You cannot just like certain gemstone and collect for the look alone. You should take the time to learn the cuts and the significance of each for your collection. You should know when you are looking at a high quality stone or a poorer one.

Lapidary gemstone
collecting is more like collecting art, and you should look at the gemstones in this way instead of just stones that make up jewelry. You can of course collect the jewelry, but lapidary can also be used to sculpt and create wonderful shapes and patterns using gemstones that are too large to place inside a price of jewelry.

Once you have found out and learned all you can about the different gemstones, you can then go out and start hunting for them. You can find great stones online and through auction sites, but you can also go to specific dealers and cutters who will be able to show you the best stones they have.
